Aug 24 - Starting a brand new thing

After a fair amount of badgering (mostly from Sonic and Dan), we’ve decided to follow Amy and Blair’s example and start writing biweekly e-mails to keep family and friends up to date with the happenings of our family.

So to catch up anyone who hasn’t heard from us in a while, Craig and Heather were married January 27th 2007 in the Boise Idaho temple. This was about three weeks after Craig started his new job at Clearwater Analytics. In one month, Craig graduated, started a new job, got married, and became “insta-daddy”.

It was an eventful month. Now, a year and a half later, Heather and I have purchased a home in Meridian, Idaho. Heather is the den mother for the local cub scout group and keeps very busy running house and home and entertaining Rachel. When not doing one of these things, she tries to sneak in some time to read (or re-read) one of the books from the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyers.

Rachel is excited to go back to preschool. Already at 4 she has more fashion sense than “her Craig” does. She loves matching clothes with her mother and looking cute. To her it comes so naturally.

As for what I do, I tell people I’m a glorified accountant. I work for a company that helps big and rich companies (like E-bay or Best Buy) report on and manage their short term investments. It’s been a very good position for me and I’ve learned a lot. I also work in the same office as my brother Bryce, so it’s interesting mixing family with business.

Some of Craig’s old friends, Dan and Jenny, came into town two weeks ago, and we spent a good afternoon floating down the Boise River. It was a good chance to see Dan again, laugh at Dan’s deflating tube, and have some discussions about how homogenous Boise is compared to Jenny’s home town in Southern California.

The last week we almost adopted a cat. A white adult (we think female) was wandering around our yard begging for attention. Heather instantly liked the cat because “it wasn’t snotty like most cats are.” Because it actually purrs when you pet it, unlike Michelle’s snotty cat, Callie. We fed the cat, affectionately called “Bella-Kitty,” a can of tuna. I was sure we’d just received a new member to the family, but we haven’t seen the Bella-Kitty for several days.

This week, we’re looking forward to Becca and Andrew coming into town. We think we might float the Boise River and perhaps have picnic.
